Moncton, N.B.
-- The federal fisheries minister told frustrated non-native fishermen
in New Brunswick yesterday that he prefers training aboriginal fishermen
to spending more on enforcement.
During a speech
to about 200 fishermen gathered for the annual meeting of the Maritime
Fishermen's Union in Moncton, Herb Dhaliwal also said that he's confident
his chief negotiator will succeed in signing new fishing deals with
Mi'kmaq and Maliseet bands in Atlantic Canada.
